The acronym POM breaks down into Preparation, Observation, Move, encompassing a series of steps that guarantee a secure and smooth transition from a standstill position.
Each element of the routine plays a crucial role in facilitating a safe driving experience.
Preparation
Preparation: The Foundation for a Smooth Start
The preparation phase marks the initial step in the POM driving routine, focusing on readying the vehicle for movement. To effectively prepare the car:
Fully Depress the Clutch: Press the clutch pedal completely, allowing it to reach the floor.
Select First Gear: Shift the gear lever into first gear.
Apply Minimal Gas: Gently apply a small amount of gas to the engine.
Find the Biting Point: Gradually raise the clutch pedal until you feel the "biting point," where the engine's power is transferred to the wheels without stalling.
Upon reaching the biting point, the vehicle is ready to move.
